Design teams are being asked to ship faster than ever with fewer people, more surface area, and higher expectations for craft. The default story is that speed and quality are in tension. At Notion, Randy's team has learned the opposite can be true.
When speed is treated as a design constraint rather than a deadline, it forces clarity: tighter problem framing, smaller bets, sharper critique, and more decisive collaboration. Quality does not come from extra time. It comes from systems that make the right thing the easiest thing: shared principles, reusable patterns, lightweight rituals, and feedback loops that happen early enough to matter.
