David Carson cancellation update
Sep 11, 2025
Less than 48 hours before Hatch, David Carson canceled his participation, citing illness after a recent trip. Here is how things went and what we are doing about it.

We want to share an important update with you regarding the program of Hatch Conference.
Less than 48 hours before joining us in Berlin, David Carson has canceled his participation. Throughout the past months our team repeatedly asked for his travel itinerary, but he remained unresponsive. Just last week he told us that he had still not booked flights, which already raised concerns. In the early hours of September 11 he wrote to us saying that during his most recent trip to Mexico he seemed to have gotten food poisoning, the dreaded “Montezuma’s revenge,” and that it is lingering longer than he had hoped.
While we sincerely wish David a full recovery, his lack of communication created unnecessary stress for our team. He signed his contract in March, and until only last week we had no reason to doubt that he would be here with us. We are very sorry for the disruption this may cause to some of you, since we were also excited to welcome him to Hatch.
If you were planning to join the Conference Day exclusively for David’s appearance, whether onsite or online, we are offering a full refund of your Conference Day ticket. You will have 24 hours to request this, until September 12 at 8:00 am emailing your order code and tickets at support@hatchconference.com. Only emails arriving before that time will be considered.
To cover the program change, Gavin O’Carroll’s Dome Stage talk will now take place on the Main Stage at 17:30. Cam Worboys will then close the Conference at 18:15, instead of his original 17:30 slot.
We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We believe the strength and core of the Hatch Conference program remains intact, with many talks, workshops, and conversations that we are certain will inspire and challenge you.
