After a decade of working in and building design teams, Nicole has learned one thing: European companies operate differently from US companies. Culture, work-life balance, labor laws, and customer needs all require a different approach to building well-functioning product and design orgs. Design teams within Europe need to be much more geared towards localizability, with generalists and specialists from different cultural backgrounds who are deeply tuned in to local trends and ways of consuming.
This talk explores why creativity and aspirational ways of working are underrated in European teams, why the tendency to look towards Silicon Valley holds teams back, and what leaders can do to change that. A thought-provoking session for leaders who want to put their design teams back on the map, and for senior ICs ready to rethink how they work with their teams. Because the future of design is about thinking local.
